LeBron James could be wearing a new number next season. LeBron has decided to give up his number 23 in respect for his hero Michael Jordan. LeBron reportedly filed his paperwork requesting his jersey be changed from #23 to #6 on Monday.

“I’ve done it, I already sent it in. I’m going to be No. 6.” LeBron told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

LeBron choose the #6 because that is the number he wears in the Olympics, also the day of the month his first son was born.

The NBA can still refuse his request, but Lebron is a free agent and if he switches teams he can choose whatever number he wants.
